RAB FAB STUDIO
In May 2019, we completed construction of a fully equipped fabrication shop and design studio on the back of our building (the RAB FAB) where we are busy designing and producing exhibits for the world's first Explor-a-Storium. The importance of the RAB FAB — in terms of cost efficiency and visitor experience— can not be overstated. The RAB FAB will create new exhibits for the Explor-a-Storium in perpetuity as we grow into the building’s third and fourth floors. There will always be something new for visitors to see and experience upon their return.
The metal shop blah blah blah is where peole work with metal and weld a stuff. Isnt it cool, you can do anything with steel. wow!
METAL SHOP
Metal provides the rigid internal armature for many Explor-a-Storium exhibits

The model shop is used to create sale models of future exhibits as well as miniatures and dioramas
WOOD SHOP
RAB FAB carpenters build architectural environments which house and enhance sculptural and tech based exhibits
DESIGN STUDIO
The Rabbit hOle's design team takes a multifaceted, iterative, approach to exhibit design and development. Our process starts and ends with the book and its creators.
SOFT GOODS
From pattern making, to felting and furing- the soft goods studio produces non-rigid and textile based exhibit solutions
FOAM SHOP
Artists give shape and color to all manner of dimensional exhibits, utilizing a specialized coated foam process and a variety of surface treatment techniques
Our current staff of 15 includes eight artists and fabricators. At full production, the RAB FAB will employ between 25 and 30 local artists. In addition, The Rabbit hOle is fostering long-term education and career opportunities for emerging artists, having already forged a deep partnership with the Kansas City Art Institute around internships, summer intensives, and career placement.
