The Tons-of-Fun Room will function as an analog makerspace, craft room, and flexible gathering area meant to accommodate a variety of activities. It will be a destination for birthday parties, field trips, and open-ended art-making and creative exploration.
The Rabbit hOle will be home to the world’s first Explor-a-Storium. This wholly unique visitor experience will offer children and adults a chance to explore literature in entirely new ways, by engaging in discoverable environments, radically immersive narrative journeys, curated exhibits, performances, and an evolving array of permanent exhibits throughout the space.
GOODNIGHT MOON ROOM
Adjacent to The Bookstore, the great green room will be host to storytimes, baby-music time, bookclubs, and weddings.
The Rabbit hOle Cafe will serve literary fare to museum visitors. It will offer patrons the opportunity to dine with their favorite book characters who will be permanent fixtures at each cafe table.
The Rabbit hOle Bookstore will begin where the Reading Reptile left off - a community bookstore, providing all of the essential programming that will bring kids and adults together around books. The bookstore will be a powerful event-driver, connecting our community with the best authors and illustrators in the world, through national festivals, author events, residencies, and performances.
A 3,000 sq/ft gallery will feature new radically immersive storybook experiences every 4 - 6 months summoning visitors of all ages to explore the pages of a single book.
THE PRINT SHOP
Modeled after the Minnesota Center for Book Arts,
The Print Shop will serve all ages with bookmaking workshops, writing and story labs, open studio, and national author/illustrator residencies.
Our education hub, The Resource Library will be the site of professional development opportunities and ongoing literature workshops for educators and parents, as well as a quiet place for families to learn about the authors and illustrators featured at The Rabbit hOle.
Immersive journeys resolve themselves in The Discovery Gallery where original book art and enrichment activities await.
100 YEAR PANORAMA
A 100-Year Panorama honoring the history of the American children’s book will enchant visitors and help frame their many experiences inside the Explor-a-Storium.
The performance space will host regular author presentations, live performances, special events, and collaborative programming associated with current and ongoing exhibitions.
