Immersive Gallery Prototype

In 2016, The Rabbit hOle constructed a full-scale prototype for an immersive storybook experience in a 3,000 sq/ft temporary space located in the Crossroads. The exhibit featured Jon Agee’s beloved picture book classic, The Incredible Painting of Felix Clousseau. Visitors walked into the world of 19th century Paris where an unknown artist enters the Palace’s Grand Contest of Art and sets off a chain of bizarre and mysterious events. The story unfolded in a densely entertaining environment— part art installation, part narrative journey, part immersive play-space, and part traditional gallery featuring original art from the book. This fully programmed prototype served to demonstrate a key component of the Rabbit hOle’s larger vision for the Explo-a-Storium.
