Family Night: Exploring the American Line

Join us to learn more about the “American Line” in children’s book illustrations and better understand the evolution of illustrative linework throughout the 20th century. In this family-friendly program, we will discuss the way line and color interact on a page and how slight changes can create widely varying outcomes. Speaking of lines, you might be familiar with this famous line from a classic children’s book: “In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines / Lived twelve little girls in two straight lines.” In the same spirit as these young Parisian girls, we will make our own line of paper dolls at this family night.
