Within the body of children’s literature, a vast number of creators have been immigrants. Together they have created some of the most impactful and classic books for children. In this installment of Let’s Take a Dive, we will expand your knowledge of children's book creators Gustav Tenggren, Margret and H.A. Rey, Yuyi Morales, all who immigrated to the U.S. for a variety of reasons and under different circumstances. Also included is Remy Charlip, a driver of new ideas and talent, his work challenged what the form of a book was confined to. Each brought (and continue to bring) new ideas, experiences and approaches to language and art through their books, which give readers a chance to see themselves and others in new ways. American children’s literature would be much poorer without the beautiful stories of these and other immigrants.

Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. for drinks and socializing. The program will start at 5:30 p.m. with an introduction in the Lucky Rabbit Bookstore, followed by a guided tour and discussion in the museum. After the discussion, each guest will craft their own author trading cards. Each ticket includes a $5.00 book voucher to use at Lucky Rabbit Books.
