Let's Take a Dive: Comics and Funnies
.jpg)
This month, we are celebrating children’s book creators who had robust careers as comic artists, including Jules Feiffer, William Steig, Daniel Pinkwater, and Shel Silverstein. These creators used humor in often unconventional ways. Through imagery, language, context or ideas, their books make readers laugh and think in new ways. The pacing of comics as well as the relentless pace of production gave these creators confidence and a different perspective in creating picture books. For this workshop you will be provided with a classic rubber chicken that you can slather with paint to make a one-of-a-kind rubber chicken print. Make as many different chicken prints as you want!
Doors will open at 5:00 PM for drinks and socializing. The program will start at 5:30 PM with an introduction by museum co-founder Deb Pettid, followed by a guided tour and discussion in the museum. After the discussion, attendees will make their rubber chicken prints! Each ticket includes a $5.00 book voucher to use at Lucky Rabbit Books.
This event is open to anyone aged 21+. Refreshments and light snacks will be included.
