KITCHEN MANAGER & CHEF
Job Summary
The Rabbit hOle is seeking an experienced, creative individual to join our team as the Kitchen Manager and Chef for the museum’s cafe, “Max’s Kansas City”. The qualified candidate will oversee cafe operations, staff and daily food preparation, while working with the museum’s directors to continue developing and implementing unique food experiences for museum visitors. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits.
Responsibilities
Oversee and implement all day-to-day cafe operations, including daily food preparation and production, ordering and managing food inventory, supervising and scheduling staff, ensuring food quality and safety, and budgeting.
Work with directors and designated staff to develop and implement new menu items derived from and inspired by children's books and the museum’s exhibits.
Develop, cost, and execute special catering menus for donor events, rental events and special group visits.
Manage and train new cafe staff, as needed.
Maintain and cultivate partnerships with vendors and suppliers.
Maintain and service equipment for the Rabbit hOle’s kitchen.
Maintain a clean and code compliant work space.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
3-5 years leadership experience as both a chef and kitchen manager.
Willingness and enthusiasm to embrace and learn the museum’s content and culture in the service of the cafe’s food production and presentation.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong creative, communication and organizational skills.
A sense of humor
