As part of an international tour celebrating the launch of the newest book, Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, Dav Pilkey will speak at The Rabbit hOle on Saturday, February 15, 2025!
Inspired by one of the themes in the Dog Man series about how ordinary people can do extraordinarily good deeds, all events on Pilkey’s tour will shine the spotlight on everyday heroes who make a positive impact in their own communities.
The Rabbit hOle is Pilkey’s only stop in Missouri on this tour, but Pilkey is no stranger to The Rabbit hOle or its predecessor The Reading Reptile bookstore.
Even before The Rabbit hOle had a building, we partnered with Pilkey on a prototype for school outreach in 2018. Pilkey and his wife Sayuri have followed The Rabbit hOle since its inception, and we’re excited to welcome them to the museum.
To accommodate as many people as possible, Pilkey will make two presentations at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Ticket release schedule and guidelines are below. A limited quantity of tickets will first be made available to our Museums for All Members followed by our Individual, Family, and Educator Members.

About Dav Pilkey
When Dav Pilkey was a kid, he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. He was so disruptive in class that his teachers made him sit out in the hallway every day. Luckily, Dav loved to draw and make up stories, so he spent his time in the hallway creating his own original comic books—the very first adventures of Dog Man and Captain Underpants.
Since then, Dav has written and illustrated a number of bestselling and award-winning children’s books, including the Caldecott Honor book The Paperboy. His Captain Underpants series and Dog Man graphic novels have sold millions of copies worldwide and have been translated into many languages.
Dav lives in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, but his writing is inspired by children and adults around the world. His stories explore universally positive themes that celebrate the triumph of the good-hearted.
