The Lucky Rabbit Literature Festival is a multi-day extravaganza October 1st - 3rd featuring an all-star lineup of authors, illustrators, cartoonists, and editors including Cece Bell, Matthew Burgess, Cátia Chien, Nina Crews, Shawn Harris, Taylor Norman, and Mark Alan Stamaty.


Together, these distinguished creators have earned many of the highest honors in children's literature, including the Caldecott Medal, Newbery Honor, Eisner Award, and Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, along with numerous accolades for excellence in writing, illustration, editing, and graphic storytelling.


Each of our special guests has expanded the creative possibilities of children’s literature and its audience.

• SCHEDULE OF EVENTS •


DINNER & OPENING RECEPTION | Thursday, October 1, 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Ages: 21+

The weekend kicks off with a ticketed reception and dinner with all of our presenters at Green Dirt on Oak. Tickets for this 21+ event include a delicious meal and a chance to mingle with our special guests (along with a few fun surprises!)


KIDS DAY | Friday, October 2

Morning session: 1st - 3rd grade, 9:00 - 11:30 AM

Afternoon session: 4th - 6th grade, 12:00 - 2:30 PM

An exclusive field trip opportunity for grades 1-6, featuring presentations and workshops from some of the most inspiring voices in children’s literature. Both classrooms and families are welcome to join us. Each classroom and family group will participate in two presentations during their visit. Space and registrations are limited, so don’t delay!


FESTIVAL BOOK SIGNING | Friday, October 2, 4:30 - 6:00 PM

Ages: All ages

Meet the people behind your favorite books! Lucky Rabbit Books will host a free public book signing at the museum featuring all of the festival’s presenters. Presenters’ books will be available for purchase at the event. There is no limit on the number of books purchased and signed. However, books from home are not permitted.


ADULT CONFERENCE DAY | Saturday, October 3, 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Ages: 18+

The Adult Conference Day features back-to-back sessions from all of our festival presenters tailored to educators, writers, artists, parents and book-lovers of all stripes. The conference is for ages 18+ and will take place at the J.C. Nichols Auditorium at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. Tickets are available for full or half-day sessions with the option to add on lunch.
